    Get PDF

Reductions and symmetries for a generalized Fisher equation with a diffusion term dependent on density and space

    Get PDF
In this work, a generalized Fisher equation with a space–density diffusion term is analyzed by applying the theory of symmetry reductions for partial differential equations. The study of this equation is relevant in terms of its applicability in cell dynamics and tumor invasion. Therefore, classical Lie symmetries admitted by the equation are determined. In addition, by using the multipliers method, we derive some nontrivial conservation laws for this equation. Finally we obtain a direct reduction of order of the ordinary differential equations associated and a particular solution

Conservation Laws and Travelling Wave Solutions for Double Dispersion Equations in (1+1) and (2+1) Dimensions

    Get PDF
In this article, we investigate two types of double dispersion equations in two different dimensions, which arise in several physical applications. Double dispersion equations are derived to describe long nonlinear wave evolution in a thin hyperelastic rod. Firstly, we obtain conservation laws for both these equations. To do this, we employ the multiplier method, which is an efficient method to derive conservation laws as it does not require the PDEs to admit a variational principle. Secondly, we obtain travelling waves and line travelling waves for these two equations. In this process, the conservation laws are used to obtain a triple reduction. Finally, a line soliton solution is found for the double dispersion equation in two dimensions

Comparison of culturing and metabarcoding methods to describe the fungal endophytic assemblage of brachypodium rupestre growing in a range of anthropized disturbance regimes

Fungal endophytes develop inside plants without visible external signs, and they may confer adaptive advantages to their hosts. Culturing methods have been traditionally used to recognize the fungal endophytic assemblage, but novel metabarcoding techniques are being increasingly applied. This study aims to characterize the fungal endophytic assemblage in shoots, rhizomes and roots of the tall grass Brachypodium rupestre growing in a large area of natural grasslands with a continuum of anthropized disturbance regimes. Seven out of 88 taxa identified via metabarcoding accounted for 81.2% of the reads (Helotiaceae, Lachnum sp. A, Albotricha sp. A, Helotiales A, Agaricales A, Mycena sp. and Mollisiaceae C), revealing a small group of abundant endophytes and a large group of rare species. Although both methods detected the same trends in richness and fungal diversity among the tissues (root > rhizome > shoot) and grasslands (low-diversity >high-diversity grasslands), the metabarcoding tool identified 5.8 times more taxa than the traditional culturing method (15 taxa) but, surprisingly, failed to sequence the most isolated endophyte on plates, Omnidemptus graminis. Since both methods are still subject to important constraints, both are required to obtain a complete characterization of the fungal endophytic assemblage of the plant species.M.D. got funding through UPNA’s doctorate scholarship. Botrylactone: new interest in an old moleculedreview of its absolute configuration and related compounds

    Get PDF
The absolute configuration of botrylactone, a unique compound with an interesting polyketide lactone skeleton with two oxirane bridges previously isolated from Botrytis cinerea and described as a powerful antibiotic, has been reviewed on the basis of sign of the optical rotation, NOE experiments and NMR method. The isolation of 7-deoxybotrylactone and 5-hydroxy-7-(4-hydroxydec-2(3)-enoyl) botrylactone enables us to characterize an intriguing new family of compounds with this interesting polyketide skeleton. A common biosynthetic origin with botcinin derivatives is proposed

    Get PDF

Lie point symmetries for generalised Fisher's equations describing tumour dynamics

    Get PDF
A huge variety of phenomena are governed by ordinary differential equations (ODEs) and partial differential equations (PDEs). However, there is no general method to solve them. Obtaining solutions for differential equations is one of the greatest problem for both applied mathematics and physics. Multiple integration methods have been developed to the day to solve particular types of differential equations, specially those focused on physical or biological phenomena. In this work, we review several applications of the Lie method to obtain solutions of reaction-diffusion equations describing cell dynamics and tumour invasion. We would like to acknowledge group FQM-201 from Junta de Andalucia. The IVE (Voluntary interruption of pregnancy), has been linked, especially in the last decade in Colombia to different debates and speeches by different institutions, which have allowed a change in social subjectivities against this phenomenon, altering ethical criteria and morals of several population segments. From this, research project aims at the realization of an analysis of the discourses associated with conceiving of the pregnant female body as a body in valid and socially accepted conditions to execute the IVE. This study will focus on the performative discourses visible in the campaign used by the Profamilia entity, “La decisión es tuya”. As for its theoretical dimension, it is based on the contributions of contemporary political thought, such as the body, biopolitics and political discourse. Categories worked by authors such as Michael Foucault, Santiago Castro Gómez, Judith Buttler, among others. The reflexive methodology will allow to articulate the theoretical scaffolding with the sources collected and the construction of a critical analysis in front of the influence of the discourses in the decision making by the woman before the possibility of executing the IVE.Politólogo (a)Pregrad
